Calvin Klein model, Ebonee Davis on NOT straightening her hair and rocking it natural “I Was OK, Not Wearing My Hair Straight” [Video]
Every now and then we get a black rebel model who defies the rules of the modeling industry. According to industry’s standard, models are supposed to be thin, have long jet hair and light skin if you’re black. Calvin Klein model, Ebonee Davis is having none of that.
If Tyra Banks was the first thick black model, Ebonee Davis is the first to insist we rocks her natural hair she was born with. Ebonee recently sat down with Harper’s Bazaar and explains to him she never felt the need to straightening her hair as a black model. The 23-year-old Calvin Klein model said, “I Was OK, Not Wearing My Hair Straight.” She’s fierce, naturally beautiful, an intelligent young woman and a force to be reckoned with.
As a black woman with dreads (not a model), I feel very proud to see Ebonee rocking long locs while strolling through the runway. Respect to all the women; specially black ones, who have defied and continue to defy industries’ sexist, racist standards and policies around the world.
